Privacy

We collect your email only if you sign up for the newsletter. We do not sell it.

What we collect

• Email address. Only if you sign up. We use it to send new articles. You can unsubscribe in any email.
• Your address or ZIP in the tools. The rain calculator and well planner run in your browser. The water map sends the address you type to OpenStreetMap to find it, and the location to public map services from the State Water Board, USGS and the Department of Water Resources. We do not save it unless you send it with a problem report.
• Problem reports. If you report a problem, we keep what you send: the page, what is wrong, your note, your email if you add one, and which browser you used. If you choose to include what you entered in a tool, we keep that too. We use it only to fix the site and, if you asked, to reply. To stop abuse, we also keep a scrambled code made from your internet address. It changes every day and can't be turned back into the address.
